Today was a go go go type of day, but not in a bad way. I got up after falling asleep on the couch the night before. I was exhausted but I also found myself up the latest I have been up since during finals in mid December. It was weird I still woke up when I needed to be up around 830 since I had a blood test at 915, and we all know it is quick for me to get ready in the morning. I started a new "minimalist" routine. I wake up and brush my teeth, wash my face, and do my hair. I take my medicine, drink a glass of green tea and a 16 oz water bottle. I get changed, grab my backpack which is already packed for the gym, and than head out about my day with my half gallon water bottle because hydration is key!
I got in the car headed to my blood test, and was 5 minutes late to the appointment because of traffic but luckily there wasn't anyone else in the office waiting so I was taken right away as a "Walk in". The lady was wack, let me tell you I dont remember if she cleaned my arm off with rubbing alcohol or not, I'm just thankful it was quick and as painless as possible. It was only one tube of blood this time which was helpful! The icing on the cake, was when I was leaving the office for the blood test, and I almost wiped out but I recovered.
After the doctors I scooted over to the gym, which was good because it was Cardio day, we all know how important cardio is for your heart. I was at the gym and as I was parking I saw my best friend walk in so it was perfect timing to run into each other! I went and did a little HIIT circuit on the treadmill I ran 1.5 miles, I walked 1 mile, I ran 1.5 miles, and than I walked 1 mile. See I'm all about my fitness app on the Apple Watch. I love to challenge and push myself I like to close all my rings, workout, and see what trends I can improve on. In this case some days I dont get all my steps in I dont always hit 10,000 steps, I dont always hit 5.0 miles. So today I wanted to make sure I did, plus I wanted to improve my running and walking pace times and to do that you have to walk and run one mile every week for six months to collect the data.
While I was at the gym I tripped and hurt my left knee which was unfortunate because I have knee problems and I am not trying to create an injury that should have been prevented. But anyway! I went to the green after cardio and I wanted to just stretch out do a bit of core and make sure my legs were foam rolled before leaving to head home, shower, and go to class. While I was on the green planking ... and let me tell you a 1.5 minute plank is hard enough without someone watching you. Also for those that dont know or haven't experienced a normal number and a planking minute go by so very differently! I was interrupted by someone I had a long history with. This person has been in and out of my life since I was ten. I've run into him two or three times since I've been home this holiday break, but we haven't run into each other in over a year, year and a half prior to this. It was a weird but nice encounter.
I literally was like who the hell is bothering me at the gym lol and he was like dont worry its not a stranger, though that would be "ballsy" since you looked like you were working hard. We had a small talk conversation about what we were doing at the gym, who we've seen / run into, talked about school, and how we both were - and it was all rounded out with a compliment on how good I looked. Listen - its always validating to be told you look good, or that your hard work is paying off and someone notices - but it is even more validating when it comes to that one person you have history with even if it isn't always positive history there's always going to be feelings and emotions there.
I felt accomplished that he respected me enough to praise my effort, and to be mature enough to say something nice. Though I was tight on time I literally had only 8 minutes left to finish what I was doing because I needed to leave so I could drive home and shower before class, and I had said I had class so I was hoping He'd take the hint which he didn't sooo we talked for 5 minutes. But it was nice it made my day. I drove home, had 17 minutes before class so I logged into zoom, hopped in the shower, and changed and I was in my seat with 1 minute to spare so Id say that was good timing on my part.
Today we did contract negotiations for clients and it was so much fun, and I think my partner and I crushed it! we did really well in the negotiation we got our clients exactly what they were looking for. Then I took a phat nap! Which isn't surprising since I didn't get a full night sleep because I was up so late, and my body was tired, and as someone who used to be an avid napper, I really appreciated the recharge. I helped my grandma make dinner we had paste, meatballs, and sausage it was a good time! I love when we have Italian classic nights like that plus my grandma made homemade sauce which makes a difference!
After that my partner and I banged out our 3 page final assignment for our accelerated four day class. We wrote the paper in an hour and turned it in, and it isn't even due until 1/19 so here we are turning it in 6 days ahead of time and it felt so good so now we just have to turn up to class tomorrow and listen and relax. Now I can solely focus on the work I needed to get done for classes on Tuesday for the Spring 2021 semester. I love that we work so well together and we were ahead of the game so now I can truly enjoy my final time home.
I'm also getting crafty and bleaching t shirts for the gym which I cant wait to wear when I work out. I felt so accomplished today I got so much done, I helped my mom read over some documents she needed to sign and It felt good to feel needed where my mom wanted my help. Today was a really good day, and it is all about knowing how to juggle and balance everything it isn't always easy but when things are important they get done!
What is something you want to get done but haven't had the time to do? Is it a priority issue do you not have enough hours in the day, or are you just pushing off what you can do today till tomorrow?
